What is Nexplanon?

Nexplanon also lasts for 3 years, meaning you don’t have to worry about daily, weekly or monthly dosing. Nexplanon must be removed or replaced by the end of the third year.

How does Nexplanon work?

Nexplanon works using a hormone that stops an egg from being released by your ovary and prevents sperm from reaching the egg. It also changes the lining of your uterus.

How is Nexplanon inserted?

Nexplanon is placed discreetly just under the skin of your non-dominant upper arm by a trained healthcare provider.

  • During this minor surgical procedure, the area is numbed, and an applicator guides Nexplanon into place.

  • Immediately after insertion, you and your healthcare provider will feel for Nexplanon to ensure that it was inserted correctly.
