IUD Services

An IUD or an intrauterine device is a form of safe and effective contraception. Once in place, the IUD can provide long-lasting birth control for years to come.

The insertion takes approximately 15 minutes and can stay in place for up to 7 years, depending on the particular IUD.

Once expired, the IUD will need to be removed. Should you wish to have a new IUD inserted, this can be done at the time of removal. Should you wish to have your IUD removed at any time for any reason, simply book an appointment at the clinic.

Please note that IUD insertion and removal should only be performed by a qualified medical professional.

Medical Termination of Pregnancy

This is a simple, two-step medication option to terminate a pregnancy up to 10 weeks. Two appointments are required.

The initial consultation will include a review of medical history, physical examination, blood draw, and ultrasound. Should you choose to proceed with the termination of pregnancy(abortion), you will take the first of two medications, Mifepristone, in the clinic. At home, you will take the second medication, Misoprostol.

A follow-up appointment is necessary to confirm the successful termination of pregnancy.

Pap Smear by Female Practitioner

A Pap smear (or Pap Test) is a test used to detect cervical cancer in Women.

The test consists of a swab of the cervix — the narrow, lower part of the uterus located at the top of the vagina.

The test can help detect changes to the cell structure which may sometimes indicate a cancer could develop at some point in the future. A Pap Test is crucial for early warning signs and the potential to stop or treat cervical cancers. A routine Pap Test is the best chance for early treatments. The current Ontario recommendation is a Pap Test every 3 years from age 21-70.

If you’ve had a hysterectomy, speak to your Doctor or Nurse Practitioner to see if you require a Pap Test.
